Spring time is almost here at Tuscany and that means that daylight savings time is upon us. Losing an hour of sleep can be difficult to adjust to, but with these tips, you can get in the swing of a new schedule. View our tips and your daylight savings adjustment will be a breeze at our Delray Beach, FL apartments!
#1 Adjust Your Daily Schedule
The best way to get your body adjusted to daylight savings is to adjust your everyday schedule. We will lose an hour because of Daylight Savings, so you’ll want to adjust your daily schedule by an hour, as well. Have dinner earlier and go to bed an hour earlier in the week leading up to the loss. This will get your body shifted into a new normal and you will be less likely to feel the effects of daylight savings.
#2 Avoid Caffeine
While most people rely on some sort of caffeine to get through the day, it is important to avoid it later in the day. If you currently consume caffeine late in the day, your body is likely already adjusted to this consumption and it doesn’t actively affect your sleep schedule. Because you’re losing an hour, you’ll want to avoid caffeine late in the day. This way you won’t be wired in the night so you can go to bed earlier.
#3 Get Some Light
While this may not seem like it will help you adjust to the start of daylight savings, sunlight is very important in getting into a new routine. By immersing yourself in natural light throughout the day, the melatonin in your body will secrete less, making you feel less tired during the day. Go for a walk in the morning or enjoy a window seat on your commute. The sunlight is sure to help your body adjust to the time change.
Come home to our Delray Beach, FL apartments and easily adjust to daylight savings time. Contact us at Tuscany today for more information!
